I recently found out I have 3 herniated disc (2 of them are also torn) in my lower back. What exercises would be the best to strengthen my back to try and reduce the amount of pain I have?
With hernitated discs, I would advise you to talk to your PCP first before starting any exercise program. I don’t think exercise will help your situation. I have a degenerative disc in my lower back and my PCP recommended working on the Abs since strong abs help support the back.

You need an operation. Exercise will aggravate that injury./

I agree with the person that said to strengthen your abs. Make sure you wear a good shoe, and watch your weight. I notice my low back will hurt me after lifting something heavy, so watch that also. I find that a little heat pad and rest helps my pain. Better yet is an ice pack, but I prefer the heat because its more relaxing.
